FAQ's
Q: WHERE ARE THE RUGS SOURCED FROM?
Moroccan Tribe hand select their rugs from all over Morocco. We only source the absolute highest quality of Moroccan Carpets, ensuring we select each piece as close to the original source as possible.
Q: WHAT ABOUT ETHICAL SOURCING?
All of the beautiful products we find along our travels are sourced with fair prices and reasonable terms and conditions are practiced. This is an important element when choosing each piece for our collections. Moroccan Tribe supports the artisan's and their associates directly, as we believe in fair trade and the promotion of ancestral skills and traditional techniques.
Q: HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY CACTUS SILK CUSHIONS?
Cactus Silk Cushions are a delicate handmade item and should be treated accordingly. They are DRY CLEAN ONLY. Do not spot clean. Liquid will affect the colour of the natural vegetable dyes and may cause the colour to run/transfer to other materials. This item is hand woven and dyed. No chemicals are used to fix the colour. We recommend a fabric spray protector.
Q: MY RUG HAS AN ODOUR?
This can happen when the rugs have been sealed for shipping. We send all of our rugs sealed in a plastic poly-tubing to protect them from damage or moisture. This can however, cause the natural lanolin in the wool to ‘sweat’ giving it a natural wool odour.
When entering Australia all of our rugs pass through very strict quarantine, so they are thoroughly cleaned before they arrive. This natural wool smell is more prevalent in some rugs than others, depending on where the wool has been sourced from; the higher or lower regions of the Atlas Mountains.
If you experience this issue, we suggest that you let your rug air out for a week to let the natural lanolin subside. It’s also great to give your rug some fresh air for a day! If it’s nice and sunny, putting it out in the direct sun is great, or if you need protection from the elements and have a covered outdoor area, this would be ideal too.
If you find your rug is still giving off a strong odour, we suggest: sprinkling it with baking soda, leave on for two days then vacuum. This is a very efficient way to remove odours from any carpet.
